Lina Stores, delicatessen

One of the last reminders of the Little Italy that migrated from Clerkenwell to Soho. The original delicatessen opened in 1944, two years before the nearby Bar Italia and I Camisa that opened in 1961. Now it has pistachio designer stripes and cute New York boxes, the iconography extends to a small chain of trattoria imitating others like Carluccio and Spaghetti House from retail to restaurant. But the original store has fresh pasta daily which sets down a marker for the whole group, plus sauces, lines of dried pasta and rival Rummo pastas or bottarga at £17 for 100grams. It is a focused selection, now rivaled by others but with its own charm and personal service.
